In recent years, more effective and less toxic treatment protocols have been developed by substituting doxorubicin with mitoxantrone in the current induction regimens of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL). The present study was undertaken to investigate the activity and toxicity of BCNOP combination chemotherapy. Forty patients (23 male, 17 female, age range 16 to 70) with non-Hodgkin’s Iymphoma were included in the study. An overall response rate of 82.5% and a complete response rate of 72.5% were achieved. The median duration of response was 16 months (2 to 56 months). Myelosuppression was the major toxic effect, leukopenia and anemia were the most common side effects. BCNOP regimen can be considered as an effective protocol in the treatment of patients with NHL. Since the toxic effects of the protocol are quite tolerable, it may be utilized as an alternative to the regimens containing doxorubicin. [
